Bees are popular in the mountains, especially Geographic Bees where Encampment kids win.

Recently, a student at Encampment schools participated in the State Level Geographic Bee and won 3rd prize. Lucas Jarrett was part of the competition held at the University of Wyoming Conference Center. Congratulations, Lucas! Encampment is proud of your accomplishment.

The Geographic Bee is a National Contest.  Lucas competed in the State level after achieving a high score at the local level. Kirsi Anselmi-Stith, from Rock Springs was the first prize winner.

According to an article on the University of Wyoming News webpage, the Geographic Bee was begun in 1989 to address the need for more geographic understanding and knowledge among students in the United States. http://www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=29923
