Rancher's Camp Meeting
Annually in July, a tent is erected at the FS Campground at Bottle Creek for
Christian worship services, Bible study and activates for children. A
separate cook tent is set up and meals are served to attendees. Many
people bring their campers from all over the region to stay during the four
days. Others who live nearby return home to do chores and then travel
Highway 70 back into the Sierra Madre Mountain Range to attend the meetings.
The meetings, which have been going since the 1940's are non-denominational and
supported by donations.
Winter Carnival Features
snowmobile competitions such as a poker run and sometimes bed races. There
is often a winter melodrama/dinner theater presentation.
Wood Chopper's Jamboree and Rodeo
Established by the Encampment community to provide contests among logging
professionals and rodeo participants. The celebrations is managed by the
Encampment-Riverside Lions Club and occurs on Father's Day weekend every June
(unless other plans are made). The Jamboree Queen reigns over the
celebrations joined by a Lady-in-Waiting , who will be named Queen next year and
one Attendant. Community residents are recognized and named Grand Marshall of
the Parade. Street dances make up part of the celebration. The
Encampment Drama Club presents a melodrama, sometimes with a dinner theater for
one performance.
Copper Days Festival Held
annually on the weekend following Labor Day, tractor enthusiasts come from far
and near to observe tractor pulling competition and exhibitions of antique
engines and restored tractors from all over the region. Sponsored by the
Chug and Tug Tractor Club, whose members are tractor enthusiasts. All who will
bring a tractor to drive participate in the parade. This is a pleasant
time of the year, cooler, but not cold. There are no mosquitoes!

ample research and reading pleasure opportunities.
New Visitors Center
and Information Center for Carbon County located at the Junction of Highway 230
and Highway 70 in Riverside. Sponsored and staffed through the
Carbon County Visitor's Center Counsel.
